Tips For Senior Pictures with Taylor K Photography
Hey there, seniors! Ready to capture some unforgettable moments? Let's dive into planning your senior photo session together. Here are some friendly tips to ensure your pictures are as amazing as you are:
Plan Ahead: Don't let the excitement sneak up on you! Schedule your senior pictures well in advance to snag the perfect date and location that truly reflects you.
Choosing your outfits: Your senior pictures should reflect who you are and will stand the test of time. Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Whether you're into preppy, minimalism, vintage, or street style, wear clothes that represent your personal style and make you feel like your best self. My Client Style Guide is filled with color palettes, outfit and makeup inspiration, and links to all of the products shown in the style guide so you can purchase the things you like! (Try to steer clear from wearing things like Apple watches and large wristbands the weeks before your session to avoid tan lines from forming. Tan lines are often difficult to remove in editing as it involves trying to match skin tones. Sometimes a little makeup to hide tan lines helps.)
Location, Location, Location: The right location can elevate your senior pictures to the next level. Think about places that hold significance to you or locations that showcase your interests. The possibilities are endless, from city streets and parks to beaches or historic buildings. If you are still unsure of a location, don’t worry I always have location options and sample pictures from each location to help make your decision a little easier!
Lighting: Opt for outdoor shoots during the golden hours – sunrise and the hours during sunset – when the light is soft and flattering. Natural light adds warmth and dimension to your photos, creating a timeless and ethereal feel.
Be Yourself: Don't be afraid to let your personality show! Experiment with different poses and expressions during your photo session. Whether it's a candid laugh, a fierce gaze, or a playful twirl. As your photographer, I will guide you through posing to capture your best angles.
Bring Props: Props can add a personal touch to your senior pictures and make them truly unique. Whether it's a musical instrument, sports equipment, books, or your furry friend, incorporating props can help tell your story and add visual interest to your photos.
Include Family and Friends: Senior pictures are not just about you; they're also a celebration of your journey with family and friends. Consider including your loved ones in some of the shots to capture the special bond you share. I know how busy life can get especially during senior year, so I always like to set aside a little time at the end of every session to get a few pictures of you with your parent(s). A long time ago when I was having my senior pictures done, my photographer took a few pictures of my parents and me together and I am forever grateful she took the time to do that.
Relax and Have Fun: Last but not least, relax and enjoy the experience! Senior pictures should be a fun and memorable moment in your high school journey. Trust your photographer, be yourself, and let your personality shine through.
Remember, senior pictures are more than just photographs; they're cherished memories that you'll look back on for years to come. So make the most of this special time in your life and capture the essence of who you are at this moment. Here's to creating unforgettable memories and embarking on the next chapter of your journey!
